Books We Can’t Wait For In 2013

{ Stephanie’s Picks }

Winterblaze by Kristen Callihan (Release Date – February 26th)
Books 1 and 2 in Callihan’s Darkest London knocked my socks off in 2012. I’m hoping Poppy and Winston’s book will start my year off right when it’s released February.

Mating Instinct by Katie Reus (Release Date – March 5th)
Another new series I picked up in 2012 and fell in love with is Katie Reus’ Moon Shifter series. After what happened to Kat at the end of Primal Possession, I know Mating Instinct is going to be a tearjerker but I’m ready!

Lover At Last by J.R. Ward (Release Date – March 26th)
This is one of those books I can’t wait for/am dreading because I know it’s going to hit me where it counts. Blay isn’t going to make it easy for Qhuinn (and he shouldn’t) not to mention everything else that’s happening in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. March 26th can’t get here soon enough.

Psy/Changeling book 12 by Nalini Singh (Tentative June Release Date)
There’s no cover, title or any information about this one expect that it’ll be out sometime in June and you know what, that’s all I need. It’s Psy/Changeling and that’s all that matters.

Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews (Tentative July Release Date)
Andrea’s book was really good but I can only go so long without my Kate/Curran fix. Like the next Psy/Changeling book there’s no blurb yet but knowing it’ll be out in July will hold me over.

{ Beth’s Picks }

Blood Oranges by Kathleen Tierney (Caitlín R. Kiernan. Release Date – February 5th)
I am super excited about this one! Kiernan is writing under a different name. From the blurp it sounds fast paced and action packed!

Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris (Release Date – May 7th)
I haven’t even got around to 2012’s yet, but I decided to wait and finish the last two back to back. It’s going to feel strange to have this series finished. It hit its stride for me around book five or six, and despite how it goes, or how it doesn’t go I am still excited about it.

The Daylight War by Peter V. Brett (Release Date – February 12th)
Finally! This is the third in the Demon Cycle series. The first novel in the series is The Warded Man, which rates as one of my favorite books! It looks as if it’s going to be the longest so far with a seven hundred plus page count. That sounds long, but Brett’s books move quick, and I can’t wait!!

Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews (Tentative July Release Date)
Yay!!!!!! I haven’t read the spin off that came out this year. I plan to, but I wasn’t as excited about it as I am this! Kate is my favorite Urban Fantasy heroine. This is going to be book six in the Kate Daniels series. The book description isn’t out yet.

River of Stars by Guy Gavriel Kay (Release Date – April 2nd)
Kay is one of my favorite authors, so this release is pretty big! I think his fantasy is on the romantic side. His book Tigana rates on my all-time favorite list. (I don’t actually keep a list.)

{ Ronnie’s Picks }

The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead – (Release Date – February 12th)
A vampire teen romance? Say it ain’t so. Reading Richelle Mead’s richly engrossing series, Bloodlines, has been one of my favorite discoveries of the last two years. Her characters are nuanced and complex, and the vampire political structure is very well done. Indigo Spell is one of my most highly anticipated books to read this year.

Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews (Tentative July Release Date)
When you find a series that makes you grin like an idiot, laugh, and cry, you grab hold of it and never let go. The Kate Daniels series is easily my favorite out all urban fantasy that is out there these days. A fantastic mix of action, adventure, and romance, I am at the edge of my seat waiting for Magic Rises this upcoming year.

Binding the Shadows by Jenn Bennett (Release Date – May 28th)
Binding the Shadows is another UF that I am very much looking forward to reading this year. Jenn Bennett’s work is outstanding. The visual imagery in the books is unique and unlike most any other novel I’ve ever read and she creates a wonderful and down to earth heroine in Arcadia Bell.

Dark Triumph by Robin Lafevers (Release Date – April 2nd)
Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers was easily one of my favorite reads last year. Her prose struck me as simple yet elegant, with a fascinating story that ensnared my attention. Dark Triumph is the story of Sybella, whom we learn about briefly in Grave Mercy, but the details are sparingly given! I really want to read Sybella’s story.

Dare You To by Katie McGarry (Release Date – May 28th)
Wow, another YA. I’m reading a lot more of those than I thought. Well, for good reason. I truly loved Pushing the Limits. Talk about a heart wrenching debut novel. We met Beth Risk briefly in Pushing the Limits, but she’ll take center stage in Katie McGarry’s sophomore effort, Dare You To.
